what type of domains exist and how are they organised? |

Domains are organised by TLD´s (Top Level Domains). The TLD are first level domains which make reference to the type of service they have been designated for or the country or region where the service is hosted.
The most well-known TLD´s are .com, oriented to commercial services, .net oriented to Net services and .org for non-profit making organisations.
During the last few years the use of these three extensions has been growing inexorably and today they are used indiscriminately for any service that may be on offer.
With regard to first level national domains, called ccTLD's (Country Code Top Level Domain), these are managed by organisations for the corresponding country or region, and in many cases are reserved for companies and individuals resident in the country in question. This is the case for the TLD.es (Spain) or .de (Germany).
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) - which is the body responsible for the coordination of the Internet domain names system - approved last September the candidature presented by the Asociación puntCAT for the creation of a domain for the Catalan linguistic and cultural community. Thereby .cat is born vindicated as a new Internet domain and a corresponding agreement has been approved which will regulate its operation.
The domain .cat will represent users within the Internet who express themselves in Catalan and will serve to highlight on a worldwide level the existence of a Catalan culture. In fact this domain is the first one to represent a linguistic and cultural group on a global level.

What extensions (com, net, es, cat, etc...) can I register at LA TEVA WEB SL? |

From today with LA TEVA WEB SL you can register the domains .com, .net, .org and .tv. The incorporation of the new .es and .cat extensions is under review.

Which are valid characters for a domain? |
|
Domains must be made up solely of letters and numbers (from a to z and from 0 to 9). The hyphen (-) is also valid but it must not be located at either the first or last character of the domain. Domains cannot contain spaces, dots (.,: ) nor special characters such as &, %, $, /, (, ), =, ?, ¿, ", !.

What is the Registry? And the Registrar? And the Registered Title-holder? |

Registry: Is the central database where all the domain names are stored. Registrars have access to this database.
Registrar: Is the organisation that has access to the Registry and therefore registers domain names.Nomitek is one these organisations.
Registered Title-holder: Is the person or entity that purchases a domain name, i.e., the owner of a domain name.

Can I register domains with Spanish characters? (ñ, accents, etc) |

Yes, to do so you simply enter the required name in the domain search box, our system expects a name with an ISO-8859-1 mix of characters.
Bear in mind, however, that these domain names are in an experimental phase, they cannot yet be used and may not be in the future either, or they may undergo modifications and those registered to-date may remain invalid.

What is the technical difference between registering my domain with Network Solutions and registering it with LA TEVA WEB SL? |
|
There is no difference, wherever you register your domain the result is the same, it will be entered in the worldwide domain registry. Network Solutions is currently the most well-known registrar as for years it was the only company supplying these registration services.

What information do I have to provide when registering a domain? |
|
You must provide the details of the owner, administrative contact, invoicing contact and redirection/parking configuration in the event of the registrar making use of our free services, or in the event of standard registration a technical contact and server names will need to be provided.

Who is the real owner of the domain I register, LA TEVA WEB SL or me? |
|
You are the owner of the domain, or more accurately, the person or entity indicated as owner in the registration process is, and will continue to be the owner until the domain is renewed in accordance with the renewal deadline chosen.

Who can subsequently modify the domain? |
|
The person authorised to make changes is the contact person designated as administrator and has the passwords that identify him/her as such. This information is all provided at point of registration.
All the information you provided us with at point of registration can be subsequently changed, with the exception of the owner details which require two signed letters, one from the current owner and one from the future owner.
| How long will it take for my domain to become operative after registration? | |
Around 48 hours, it is the registrar´s delivery time, not ours.
| Must I have a website and/or hosting service to register a domain? | |
If you register your domain with LA TEVA WEB SL it is not necessary to have a website or web hosting supplier, you can make use of our parking service or our redirection service to your existing website (on an external server).

Will the parking and re-directing services always be free? |
|
Yes, these services are not part of any special offer; they will always be free with the registration or transfer of any domain.
| Is web space for my website included? | |
No, LA TEVA WEB SL offers parking and redirecting free as added value services, but not the space for your website. If you require this service, please contact us.
| How can I host a domain registered with LA TEVA WEB SL with an external hosting supplier? | |
You need only ask your service provider for the server names you must assign to your domain. These servers can be specified during the registration procedure or from the 'Make changes'. option in the control panel. In these cases it is also a good idea to nominate your supplier as technical contact.
| If I use the redirection service to a web space on a free server, will I continue to see the advertising this server inserts? | |
Redirection works in the following way: the visitor accesses your domain and the domain returns the required codes so that the browser loads your website from an external web space. This means that if the free web service inserts a publicity message you will continue to see it as LA TEVA WEB SL has no control over this aspect. |
