Nielsen has released The social media report third quarter 2011. This study examines social media and its users in the United States, but also includes other relevant markets and is a good indicator of trends.
In these two years it has become the second global social network with 500 million users and 359 million of active users. However, it continues far from its main competitor Facebook. In Spain, Google+ ranked fifth among social networks assuming 1.5% of all activity on Google+ in the world.
Recently Google+ has included enhancements to its platform. Now it pays major importance to those post enjoying more +1, highlighting posts that our friends have done +1 and locating these news at the top of the news streams. It will make Google+ more attractive to users as news may be of higher quality. However, some people argue that most news will remain unnoticed. It makes sense because we all know that any news is always born without +1.
