For the first time the tablets with
Android operating system have outsold
Apple Ipad tablets. It had never happened before 2013.
Thus in the first quarter of 2013, sales of tablets with Android system reached 56% of total sales in number of units. The higher average price of Ipads made iOS tablets to continue being the leader of the market in value terms.
Not all are bad news for Apple, in fact Apple's sales have increased by 65% in the first quarter of 2013 compared to 2012. Apple has reached 19.5 million of Ipad and Ipad mini tablets sold, 8 millions more than in 2012. But brands that use Android have cut distances with Apple as they enjoyed higher rises in sales, for example Asus has grown up by 350% and Samsung by 200%.
As regards brands, Ipad continued to be the leading brand within the market for tablets followed distantly by Samsung, although the gap is narrowing. Meanwhile Microsoft continued recording low sales without significant increases and Surface sales did not reach one million units sold in the first quarter of this year.
The evolution of the tablet market directly affects the industry of online marketing and web design, as a large number of users access web pages using these mobile devices. Following this, mobile web is a must have for any web project.
