YouTube is one of the most popular social networks, in fact it is not only the first global video platform with more than 1000 million users but is also considered the second Internet search engine after Google in terms of number of searches. Accordingly, many companies consider YouTube as a key tool, within their online marketing strategy,  for promoting their business through the Internet.

At La Teva Web, our SEO Agency in Barcelona, One of the classic questions arised by new clients that hires us for YouTube SEO is how to remove the videos shown at the end of their videos. The question that for many people is trivial, by the simplicity of its solution for many is a mystery. Really what the customer is asking is how to hide related videos from YouTube, some videos whose function is that the visitor once has viewed our video, can continue browsing videos on the same subject. This seems interesting for the user but it is probably not interesting for the interest for the company that is hireing us because:

  • We can not decide which videos are displayed.
  • If you are trying to sell a service or product on your website, it is not very nice that we invite our user to go out from our website to watch another video, maybe from a competitor.

The solution however is very easy and can be done in two ways:

  • When adding a video to our website, we normally go to YouTube and find the video, then we click on the option share the video, next embedded and we end with the code or iframe we will use. At this point, we need to modify this code and we have to press the option to show more and there must uncheck the Show suggested videos when the video finishes. And that's it. This section also have the option to decide if we want to show the video title and player controls.
  • In the case we already have the video posted on our website or have the code, we simply have to add at the end of the url ?rel=0, wich means 0 related videos. For instance, if we have the url https://www.youtube.com/embed/MnHsP0dIjxc it would become https://www.youtube.com/embed/MnHsP0dIjxc?rel=0

It's really easy to remove those related videos that are displayed at the end of our videos, but we have to recognize that it is in a section that goes unnoticed easily.
