Spain among the first of the EU in broadband penetration
According to the 2007 Information Society Report of Fundación Telefónica, Spain ranks seventh among the 27 countries of the European Union with respect to broadband internet connection. Specifically, 75% of households in the state that are connected to the Internet uses broadband only surprassed by Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia and Malta. The average penetration of broadband to the European Union is 62% of households with Internet connection.

This figure is perceived as an index of the maturity of Internet users and is especially important in Spain despite the high price paid for broadband connection when compared to other countries in the European Union
