It seems that Google has been with us for ages, but today is Google’s 15th birthday.

Google.com domain was purchased on 15th September 1997 but the official date of the birth of Google was established on the 27th September 1998.

Google was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two PhD students at Stanford University. Google's name comes the term "googol" which refers to 1 followed by 100 zeros. A name that fit perfectly with the concept of search in which they worked, a search engine to steer clear of traditional web directories and that would organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the Web.
Google appeared  to stay and change our lives and it has done it. Few people can remember Altavista, Olé, Aol, Terra or Ozú search engines because Google achieved 15 years ago what seemed impossible:  to read all the websites and offer those that really interest us when searching for a particular word o phrase. Google has also managed an empire of incredible products and applications-Google Earth, Google Maps ... - plus condition the whole web design and online marketing industry.

Google has used the celebration to confirm the launch of its new search algorithm a month ago. It is called Hummingbird.

Google celebrates its 15 years with an interactive doodle  where you can hit a swinging piñata using the space bar or your finger in some device to release sweets. It is certainly one of those few Internet companies that will undoubtedly continue looking so healthy in 15 years. Congratulations!
