Community managers, when managing a facebook page, always complain that publications are only viewed by a tiny number of its fans. In fact, it is usually less than 20% of users who have become fans of a facebook page that see the publications of the page. That makes that the effectiveness of the facebook page becomes minimal. Again, online marketing strategy is highly conditioned by the available budget.
Facebook argues that fans only see those publications that are interesting, for instance those with a large number of likes. However, the company or brand always has the option to pay for advertising to promote any publication. As always, the social network always wins. Well, facebook to counter criticism launched the option to receive notifications. This option can be activated at any time and it is located in the “I like” button.
Although it seems a good idea, it has two basic errors. The first is that the option is quite hidden and the second problem is that few users know that this option exists. Following this, if community managers want their publications seen by fans will have to continue paying to facebook.
